One NODE RAC
1. What is One Node RAC?
One Node RAC, also known as a single-instance Oracle Real Application Cluster, is a configuration that combines the Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) technology with a single database instance. In a traditional RAC setup, multiple nodes (servers) work together to run a shared database. However, in a One Node RAC, only one server hosts the database instance, but it retains the flexibility and failover capabilities of RAC. This configuration is often used for high availability and can be scaled to a multi-node RAC if needed.
2. Benefit of One Node RAC?
The main benefit of One Node RAC is high availability. It provides failover capabilities like (automatic restart/failover, rolling patches, rolling OS and clusterware upgrades) and can be easily scaled to a multi-node RAC for increased performance and redundancy when needed.
