10g RAC Implementation Part - 1

Anup - Monday, November 24, 2008
We have learned about 10g RAC major component and 10g RAC arch. Now we are ready to implement 10g RAC on RHEL 4.

Before implementation, we just talk about planning storage for 10G RAC.

We can use one of the following Storage mechanisms for Oracle clusterware component (OCR and Voting Disk):

  • OCFS 2

  • Raw devices (LVM Logical Volume)

  • Third party cluster filesystem such as GPFS or Veritas (CVM Raw Volume)

Note: The minimum required size OCR is 100 MB and Voting Disk is 20 MB

Also we can use one of the following Storage machines for RAC database storage:

  • OCFS 2

  • ASM

  • Raw devices (LVM Logical Volume)

  • Third party cluster filesystem such as GPFS or Veritas (CVM Raw Volume)
Here we use SCIS (Just a Bunch of Disk) Disk for Creating Shared Storage. We use OCFS file system for clusterware component and ASM Disk for Database component.

Bello i am describing Arch. in details:
